Alright this is the “official” word on the Trilogy

Hangeng Say No MV

Reported by NetEase on 27July

Right after the song  Moths into Flame aka Fire, the MV of another song in Hangeng’s new album ‘Geng Xin’-

Say No was first broadcasted in NetEase music channel. The whole MV was shot in New Zealand, using a movie format to describe a touching story of Hangeng searching for his freedom and dream.

The songs that served as ‘Geng Xin’s movie trilogy are Moths into Flame, Say No and Holding onto the Umbrella. The moods and atmosphere of these three songs are used to describe a newborn king.

While Moths into Flame (Fire) is talking about the main character’s (Han Geng) life without freedom only with frustration and pain, and the pressure he gets under the huge spotlight;
Say No is about the character falling down the stairs  because of the reporter’s chase, and managed to sneak out from the hospital, visiting his own dreamland, New Zealand. He then met a girl who likes chewing bubblegum, and together experiencing an aesthetic love, as he finally found an exit to freedom for his heart.
Holding onto the Umbrella is about Hangeng returning back to his own country, back to his rural life, feeling the happiness and warmth of a simple life. Unfortunately, Hangeng lost his life in an accident, but this foreshadows a start of another new life.In Say No MV, Hangeng was bare of makeup, showing his real self in the story. In this MV, not only did Hangeng experienced an aesthetic love with a girl, but he was also carried up to the high mountains by a helicopter, experiencing freedom in a icy environment.

It was said that there will be a movie version after these MV trilogy, while this version will provide the audience a more rich and dynamic description of the story’s development. The MVs of the last part Holding onto the Umbrella and the side story Heartache. Notebook will be released in the near future.

    I really like the MV on Say No shooted at New Zealand. Clean, pure, real emotion of real people, with simplicity otherwise not simple nowadays.

    I also like the style of the MV on Holding Umbrella. Warm people with pure and tender heart. Meaningful short story.

    I do not know what words to use to describle or comment on the MVs. Just the style I really appreciated.

    I have never cried watching an mv before, but Hangeng’s did it for me…both of them. His acting is just so brillant.

    At first I didn’t understand how the 3rd mv (Holding Umbrella) ties in with the rest of the mvs. But I read what someone wrote in Geng Ba and I agree. I think the third mv shows that after Hangeng lost his girlfriend, he went back to the country to live with his parents and got a simple job as a security guard. The hint that he was the star in the first two mvs was that he was composing the song, Holding Umbrella (probably for the girl in the second mv), while he was working. And then the rest, you know what happened.

      i actually have a different theory than yours. i can see how Say No is related to Fire because it also has the paparazzi thingy. but i didn’t get how Holding An Umbrella was related to the other 2. then after watching it a few times, i think Holding An Umbrella could be about his past life. didn’t they say the trilogy was about the rebirth of a king? maybe after he died in Holding An Umbrella, he would reborn as a superstar in his next life. when he was writing the song, it could be a hint that he had a certain talent with music, and that would be reborn with him. i don’t know if that makes any sense lol! :p

    The 1st and the 2nd mv’s I had the same thought as the others. The 3rd mv’s,in real life of Hangeng, his soul longing for freedom until he never realise that his body is exhausted & tired until the end he realise that his soul and body are not attached, people see what they see like in the mv’s we thought his father died becoz he seem ill but the end it is hangeng. It is the same happen to hangeng in real life, people always thought what they see but never realise that the person who suffer is Hangeng. Well that juz my thought 🙂 about him writing a song hehe maybe he try to tell us that he got talent in composing a song 🙂
